Frequently Asked Questions
Everyone starts their Toastmasters Journey with a lot of questions. Here are some we've heard the most.
Do I have to keep my camera on during the meeting?
To keep our club a supportive and effective learning space, members are expected to keep their cameras on during weekly meetings. Our goal is to grow as astrologers, teachers, and confident communicators, which requires active, and visible engagement.
Thank you for being present on screen as it helps us connect, build trust, and create a safe space where everyone feels comfortable taking risks, finding their voice, and growing together. We look forward to seeing you.
If I join the club, will I have to speak right away?
We’d love you to speak! Toastmasters provides an encouraging and positive environment, and we are all here to support you in speaking. During table topics members are invited to participate in 1-2 minute answers to questions posed by the topics master. However, if you are not ready to speak during your first meetings, simply say “pass”.
Do I need permission to attend a meeting? Do I have to be a Kepler College student?
Our meetings are open to all students and practitioners of astrology. You need not be a Kepler College student to participate. However, we request that you sign up to visit us as a guest in advance so that you may receive the meeting agenda. You can register to visit our club on the Kepler Astrologers signup form.
What if I can’t participate in every meeting?
That’s ok! We all have busy schedules. Our agendas are published in advance with opportunities for taking on meeting roles. If you have signed up for a meeting role, you will need to be present at that meeting. You can also state on the agenda whether you will be present or absent. There is no obligation to attend every week, however members who do attend more frequently and take on various meeting roles will see their communication skills improve more quickly.
What if I’m already a great speaker? What other benefits does participating in KAT offer?
KAT members have many opportunities to boost self-confidence and effectively communicate about ideas they are passionate about. Beyond growth in speaking skills, we offer leadership development through a variety of club and meeting roles. In addition, we are a network of friendly astrology lovers, and will offer feedback on your speaking that will support your communications journey.

Do I have to do Pathways?
The Pathways Learning system offers members the option to learn and practice various speaking tools and techniques to enhance their communications skills.
