What Happens at a KAT Meeting?
Our members are practicing the language of astrology via the framework of Toastmasters.
Each meeting follow the P-I-E format:
- Prepared Speeches
- Impromptu Speaking
- Evaluation
Club members, AKA Kats come from a wide variety of Astrological traditions including Helenistic, Evolutionary, Locational, Modern and Vedic traditions.
Prepared Speeches
KATs create prepared speeches via the Toastmasters International Pathways Learning system. Pathways provides a structured way for members to learn and practice speechcraft skills. Members develop confidence as they take on different learning objectives from the Pathways program. Toastmasters offers 6 different paths, which include 15 speech exercises.
Impromptu Speaking
During Table Topics – Members practice impromtu speaking by responding to questions from the Table Topics Master. The Toastmaster of the week sets the meeting theme. At KAT, these themes often correlate to the current Astrological transits, allowing members to practice answering chart questions on the fly.
Constructive feedback is essential to learning. Everything that takes place in a Toastmasters meeting is reflected upon, just as the moon reflects the light of the sun!
